Power Rankings: Day 8

#1 Jimmy

Manager: Jimmy

MVP: Christian McCaffery

Best Add: Lavonte David

Breakout: Rob Gronkowski

Big congratulations to Jimmy for ranking #1 for the first time! There’s no dodging around the fact that Jimmy has the most talented roster in the league. This team is absolutely stacked. This does not mean he will the championship this season, but he certainly won the preseason and is heading in a good direction.

Jimmy has the best quarterback duo, period. I mean, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes! I’m not sure I even have to elaborate here. Mahomes is the best in the NFL right now and Brady is a very strong backup in an elite offense.

McCaffery literally won fantasy leagues last season, and I don’t see much changing this year. He’s the most complete back in the league and is literally unstoppable. Jones should be a borderline starter. Great pick here from Jimmy. I don’t care that the Packers drafted a running back in the second draft, doesn’t matter. Jones scored 19 touchdowns last year, put some respect on his name. Man put up some solid receiving numbers last year as well.

Jimmy’s wide receiver situation is a slight weakness. Cooper is a low-end WR1, high-end WR2. I’m not a big A-Rob fan and I don’t really understand his hype. He’s very talented and will produce solid numbers, but that Chicago offense limits his ceiling. OBJ is a nice pick for a #3. He’s a boom or bust, but has an enormous ceiling if he finds his place in Cleveland.

Jimmy has the best tight end situation. Kittle is clearly the 2nd best tight end in the league. And Gronk as a backup, wow! Gronk isn’t what he used to be, but I love him as a backup.

Robbie Gould at kicker is questionable. He’s pretty reliable, but he’d barely make my top 8. He’s old and in a mediocre offense.

Jimmy’s defense is a powerhouse. Bosa and Hunter should produce double digit sacks with ease if they are able to stay on the field. Warner’s a young star. I’m a huge Lavonte David guy. He had a great bounce back season last year and still think he’s got more left in the tank. Landon Collins has gone pick-less over the last 2 years which isn’t what you want to see, but still produces tackles.

Overall, Jimmy’s team is built for a championship. He not only has his fair share of fantasy superstars, but he has incredible depth in his bench as well. Jimmy came into the draft with the best keepers, and did not settle by killing the draft as well. If he plays his cards correctly, he should be taking home the FFL trophy this season. Good luck.

#2 BS

View Post

Manager: BS

MVP: Ezekiel Elliot

Best Add: Dak Prescott

Breakout: Noah Fant

BS has been killing the rankings, posted in the 2 three times over the last 5 years. This year really relies on the Cowboys for BS. He took a huge risk taking Prescott while already having Zeke. However, if there’s any offense to stack up players on, it should be Dallas. It’s a risky decision, but I like it.

BS’s quarterback situation is the 2nd best in the league in my opinion. I am big Prescott this year and think he is going to have an MVP-like season. I’m also a big fan of taking Rivers as a backup. I think he still has some game in him and Indy was the perfect landing spot- elite O-Line and solid weapons.

Running back is another very strong position for BS. Zeke is the 2nd best fantasy back in the league- there’s no argument here. I’m also a fan of the Gurley selection. He’s not the runner he used to be, but I still think he’s a fine #2 with potential in a great offense.

Receiving is another huge strength for BS. D-Hop is a top 5 wide out. Thielan is either the best or the 2nd best #2 wide out in the fantasy league. And Keenan Allen as your 3rd, wow! I mean Allen’s production will certainly dip with the departure of Rivers, but he’s still a stud and a 9th round steal.

Tight end isn’t necessarily a strength for BS, but it’s not a weakness either. I would probably rank Waller as the 4th or 5th best fantasy tight end in the NFL. I love Fant as a backup. The young sleeper has a big ceiling in an intriguing Broncos offense with limited receiving. He’s my second favorite tight end sleeper, behind Hayden Hurst.

Greg the Leg is a nice pick at kicker. He was pretty bad last season, which is a little concerning, but he’s usually very reliable. He has huge upside in Dallas’s offense that’s going to frequently find themselves int he redzone.

BS’s defense is okay. Jaylen Smith is a great pick, he is one of the best linebackers in the league. Shaq Barrett is also a stud, who literally lead the NFL in sacks last season. Edmunds is solid, but doesn’t do anything crazy in the stat box. I’m not sure about the Thomas Davis selection. He was solid last year, but the man was released and is 37. I wouldn’t expect much from him. Alex Johnson? I’ve never heard of him. I guess he was on the Broncos last year. Overall, this defense has a few stars and then a few question marks.

Overall, BS’s team is stacked and will be undoubtedly competing for a championship. With this roster, he should be making the A-team with ease and has a very good chance to take home the trophy as well. His weakest positions are tight end and defense, which aren’t even that bad. His biggest problem is the riskiness in taking so many Cowboys, but I would bet that that’s going to pay off big time, rather than fall flat. Good luck.

#3 Mark

Manager: Mark

MVP: Travis Kelce

Best Add: Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Breakout: Miles Sanders

This is Mark’s third straight year ranking in 3rd place. Mark has never amazingly never ranked in the B-team. However, he’s also never ranked #1.

I would rank Wilson right along side Dak Prescott as the 3rd best fantasy quarterback. How he fell to the 4th round is pretty appalling to be honest. Wentz isn’t an elite backup, but he has upside.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire was arguably the steal of the draft. When Andy Reid drafts a running back, he’s going to be a stud. His upside in that elite offense is enormous. Miles Sanders is a great backup. He was a monster down the stretch last season and should see more touches with the departures of Jordan Howard and Darren Sprolles this season. Despite not keeping any running backs, Mark was able to come out of the draft with a middle of the pack running back situation.

Wide receiver is a big strength for Mark. Julio and Godwin are studs. Sutton isn’t starter-worthy, but is a solid backup as Lock’s top target.

Tight end is almost a lock for the Commish. Kelce is undeniably the best fantasy tight end in the league. Mike Gesicki is a sleeper that will never wake up. Not sure the thought process here, the Dolphins have the worst offense in the league….

Succop has potential in a highly anticipated Buccs offense. However, he is a risk given he was atrocious down the stretch last year leading him to being released.

Martinez has been a top 5 LB for the last few years, yet changed teams, so we’ll see.  Shaq Thompson could mop up with the retirement of Kuechly. Garrett should be a sack machine if he stays on the field. Walker was solid last season, but has a ceiling with Leonard right next to him. M. Kiser? No idea who he is and even had trouble finding stats about him on the internet. Apparently he’s on the Rams and had 4 total tackles in 16 games played last year. Are we just picking randoms on our favorite NFL team? We’re not in second grade anymore, terrible pick.

Overall, Mark is coming off of a championship victory in 2019. He has reloaded his weapons and is looking strong once again. I think his biggest issue is that his roster doesn’t quite have the talent and firepower that Jimmy and BS posses. Still, Mark has a roster to fear. Good luck.

#4 Smooth

Manager: Smooth

MVP: Michael Thomas

Best Add: Dalvin Cook

Breakout: Calvin Ridley

Smooth had an impressive streak of improving his ranking every single year up until now. In 2020, Smooth ranks perfectly in the middle of the league.

While I am sure he will regress, I would still bet on Lamar ending as a top 3/4 quarterback this season. Jimmy G is nothing special.

Cook struggled down the line last season, but should be a top 8 back. Mixon will be solid, but has a ceiling in that horrific Bengals O-Line.

Smooth’s wide out situation is pretty dangerous. Thomas is the best ifantasy wide out in the league, period. I think Woods and Ridley should have successful seasons in their respective offenses. LA and Atlanta are passing offenses who both lost high volume receivers- Cooks and Hooper. That’s going to be a tough decision deciding on who to start each week.

Smooth is in the middle of the pack when it comes to tight end. I’d put Ertz in the #3-5 category. Irv Smith is seen as an intriguing sleeper this season, but I’m not sure I’m buying it. Minnesota is a run-heavy offense that rarely throws to the tight end. Plus, Kyle Rudolph is still there. This ones risky.

Lutz is a stud. I would comfortably rank him directly behind Tucker and Butker.

Smooth’s defense is solid. Smith and Jones could provide dividends if they played like they did 2 years ago, but both dipped in production last year. Brown and Baker should rack up tackles quickly. Nicky Polish has high upside on the Radiers.

Overall, Smooth has a pretty well-rounded team with a couple of superstars. This is a roster that will compete for a championship for sure. I think Smooth’s biggest issue is that none of his positions blow his peers out of the water. Good luck.

#5 Frankie

Manager: Frankie

MVP: Davante Adams

Best Add: Chandler Jones

Breakout: Tyler Higbee

Frankie, congratulations on being ranked as captain of the B-Team. This is Frankie’s highest ranking since 2016.

Frankie’s quarterback situation isn’t ideal. The problem is that both Brees and Murray are in the low-end QB1/high-end QB2 area. Brees’ elite completion percentage is really his only feature keeping him relevant anymore. Murray should have a breakout sophomore year, but is a risky starter when you look at his 2019 stats.

Frankie’s running backs are pretty good. Kamara is a borderline top 5 back. Drake is a solid backup with a high ceiling as well.

Frankie’s wide receiver corps is the main reason he is ranked here. No one should beat him here. Adams is the second best fantasy wide out in the league. Evans as a #2 is just jaw-dropping. Frankie then went and sniped TY Hilton in the last round, who will likely be Philip Rivers’ new top target. Love that pick. Frankie killed it here.

Frankie’s tight end situation is just simply boom or bust. Higbee was a monster down the stretch last season, but is unproven. I believe Hurst has the largest ceiling out of all tight end sleepers this season because of his situation in the Atlanta offense that heavily involves the tight end. But the fact that he was out-beat by Mark Andrews in Baltimore is a bit concerning.

Matt Gay is a talented kicker, but he’s not on a team… Must have fell asleep at the wheel here, yikes.

Frankie’s defense is boom or bust or well. Simmons and Murray have high potential, but are rookies. White in his second year, combined with two rookies Simmons and Murray, have high potential, but are unproven and risky. Jones is coming off of a season-best 19 sack season, and should be safe for 10+ this season as well.

Overall, Frankie has a tough team to rank. He struggles in some positions, but has enough stars to compete for a championship. The biggest issue for Frankie is going to be his large amount of talented but risky, mostly-unproven players. This includes Kyler Murray, Kenyan Drake, Tyler Higbee, and most of his defense. His season will depend on how these players pan out. Good luck.

#6 Hillsy

Manager: Hillsy

MVP: Bobby Wagner

Best Add: Cooper Kupp

Breakout: Patrick Queen

Hillsy has been blessed with leading the league with two #1 rankings. This ranking will humble him, though the last time he ranked #6, he came back the next year with a #1 ranking.

Hillsy’s quarterback situation is a bit troubling. Rodgers’ fantasy glory days are behind him, and he’s now borderline top 8 material. Josh Allen’s best feature is throwing the ball 10 feet over his receivers head. I don’t believe the hype.

Hillsy’s running backs are pretty good. Henry is a viable #1 running back. His lack of receiving work hurts, but his immense amount of rushing yards and TD’s should keep him in the top 8. Ecklar is a great backup with a high ceiling now that Gordon has departed.

Hillsy’s wide receivers look solid on paper, but when compared to the rest of the league, it makes you rethink. Golladay is one of the weaker WR1’s in this fantasy league. Cooper Kupp is a great pick. Following his elite 2019 campaign, I’m not sure why he’s still underrated. DJ Moore is okay, but I’m not a fan of that Carolina offense.

Hillsy’s tight ends are solid. Andrews is a borderline top 5 tight end in a high powered offense. Henry loses value without Rivers, but is more than fine as a backup.

Tucker is the best kicker in the league and is a lock to finish in the top 2 in total kicking points.

Hillsy’s defense may be the best in the league. Wagner and Schobert are superstars, even though Schobert may lose value on a different team. Hicks had a huge year. Queen is a promising rookie. As talented as Mack is, his production in 2019 was concerning.

Combining Hillsy’s strong managing skills with his sub-par roster, Hillsy will likely be a contender. His biggest issue is his lack of offensive studs, which may be problematic. However, he has a very well-rounded team which should be enough to compete. Good luck.

#7 Zuke

Manager: Zuke

MVP: Darius Leonard

Best Add: J.J. Watt

Breakout: D.K. Metcalf

Unfortunately these rankings have not been particularly nice to Zuke; and neither has my father. I can’t imagine how it’s been after those two brutal losses, I truly feel for you. Whenever I lose in something to my Dad, which is usually once every few years, he’ll never let you forget. Nevertheless, the past is the past, let’s focus on now. I’ll dive into his roster, though I understand his team will likely be looking very different in a few weeks.

Zuke’s quarterbacks are solid, but nothing special. Stafford and Ben have high ceilings, but have major injury concerns. I love them both as #2’s, but not sure they’re good enough to be reliable starters anymore.

Running back is Zuke’s strongest position. While overrated, Barkley is still a clear top 5 running back with huge upside. David Johnson is a nice boom or bust backup as well.

Zuke’s wide receiver corps is middle of the pack. Tyreek is a stud. Metcalf isn’t proven, but should produce as Russ’s arguably #1 target this year. A.J. Green is a huge question mark.

Tight end is a struggle for Zuke. Hooper was 2019 hype. Baker doesn’t throw to the tight end, and that offense has too many better weapons. Smith is a solid sleeper.

I am a fan of Zuke’s kicker selection. Koo was terrific down the stretch last season in a productive offense.

This defense looks like something you’d find on the side of the road, slap some paint on it and maybe some shiny knobs, then sell it for 3 dollars- All kidding aside!, Zuke’s defense has big names, but will likely become middle of the pack when it comes to production. Leonard is an absolute star and is my selection for the 2020 FFL defensive player of the year. Bush’s stats may lack in a top-tier defense. Adams is good, but not sure what his stats will look like in Seattle. Donald and Watt are sack machines if they can stay healthy.

Overall, Zuke has some stars to build around- Barkley, Hill & Leonard-, but may need to improve his role players. QB and TE will likely be Zuke’s weakest positions coming into this year. This roster has potential, let’s see where he’ll take it… Hopefully not into second place again. Haha, good luck!

#8 Larry

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Manager: Larry

MVP: Cory Littleton

Best Add: Budda Baker

Breakout: AJ Brown

Larry has landed his first 8 spot! The bad news for Larry is that his ranking has been declining harshly over the past 3 years. The good news is that it’s impossible to decline next year since he’s hit rock bottom! Haha- all jokes aside, the real good news is that Larry has bounced back from rough rankings before and has landed himself a #1 ranking, which only a few have ever seen. Now, let’s dissect the team.

His quarterback situation isn’t ideal, but it’s not bad. Watson is very talented, but may be limited with his poor receiving core and terrible OL. Ryan is a great boom/bust backup with high upside.

His running backs are solid, but risky. Chubb doesn’t catch and will have to fight for carries with Hunt. Conner is a solid backup with high upside if he can stay on the field.

Larry’s wide outs rely heavily on Juju, who SHOULD have a huge year as Big Ben’s return, but last year’s disaster is worrisome. Brown and Samuel are young studs, but have production question marks given their status in run-heavy offenses.

For tight end, Engram is a boom/bust candidate, depending on if he can stay healthy. Goedert is a backup.

Butker is undeniably a top 2 kicker, who I believe will rank #1 by the end of the season. That’s a great pick there. Larry’s defense is also very strong. Littleton’s a little risky being on a new team, but is still a stud. Baker and Cunningham are both tackle machines. Smith is a mediocre sack guy, and McCourtey has high upside in a defense that lost key linebackers.

Larry’s defense and kicking is top-tier in this league. I think his offense has some work to do, but could surprise. I think Larry’s biggest problem is that he has doesn’t have any offensive stars to build around. Overall, these are on-paper rankings. All Larry has to do is bring out his GM magic, play the right guys, make the rights, and things could look a lot different by the end of the year. Good Luck.

Hillsy was ranked at #6 last year, but proved me wrong by winning a championship. This is Hillsy’s second time ranking at #1. What stood out to me from Hillsy’s team and the rest of the league, is the amount of superstars he has. The road to a championship is so much easier when you have more superstars than everyone else in the league. Brady, Gurley, and Gronk are umatchable. If these three are able to stay healthy I don’t see how anyone will beat him. The only worry I have here is his depth and wide receivers. His three megastars are backed up by Jared Goff, Alex Collins, and Tyler Eifert. These are giant drop offs, so he will have to pray he won’t need them. His wide receivers are also problematic. Hilton, Edelman, and Thomas are all solid, he has no #1 wide out. Losing Julio will make things much more difficult for Hillsy this year. However, I loved how he grabbed an elite kicker is Gostko and a solid defense. Martinez and Alexander are tackle machines. Smith and Barron produce great tackle numbers, and add some picks and sacks. Neal is a nice interception guy. When you matchup all of the league’s starting lineup’s, your delusional if you don’t think Hillsy is the clear favorite. He will just hope he won’t have the luck that 2017 #1 ranked Larry had last year with injuries.

Smooth started from the bottom, but has improved his team every year. This is his highest ranking. Mike’s quarterback situation is not ideal. Despite his immense talent, Wilson is a risky play this season. Jimmy G is a nice backup. His running back situation is boom or bust. It’s very risky keeping two tiny running backs carrying heavy loads this season. Kamara and McCaffrey have stirred up a ton of buzz this off-season and are both expected to have huge seasons. The great thing about these two guys are they both catch a ton. Wide receiver is Mike’s biggest strength. Odell and Thomas is the second best wide out duo in the league, and Diggs is the second best 3rd string wide out. tight end isn’t a strength nor a weakness for Mike. Olsen is great, and Njoku is a nice sleeper. He’ll be fine for kicker with top tier kicker Justin Tucker. Mike’s defense is also a huge strength. Lee, Jones, and Kirksey are three tackle machines. Jones and Miller is arguably the most dangerous sack duo in the league along with Zuke’s Watt and Mack. Overall, Smooth is a clear title contender. He has a lot of talent and depth, and doesn’t have weaknesses. The reason he’s not at #1 is he doesn’t have enough superstars to compete with Hillsy.
